Most people wait until they are sick to see a doctor, unless they are going for routine check-ups or scheduled tests.

The changing emphasis on health is wellness, or taking care of one’s self to hopefully avoid illness. With this has come a growing interest in alternative medicine, and while chiropractics have been around for long time, many more people are coming interested in chiropractic care.

Dr. Sebastian Lipinski has opened Lipinski Chiropractic in the Ambers Professional Center, 178 Thomas Johnson Drive, Frederick. He emphasized the extensive academic training and testing to become a chiropractor, including seven years of highly specialized training.

Dr. Lipinski graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in biology, and then completed more than 4,500 hours of classroom instruction at the Palmer college of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, considered one of the most prestigious colleges of chiropractic. Dr. Lipinski received numerous awards at the college including the President’s Award and was named salutatorian of his graduating class.

He worked as an intern for a leading chiropractor in Illinois and provided chiropractic service at an outreach clinic. He passed four rigorous national examinations prior to earning his Maryland license.

Some of the common symptoms relieved by chiropractic include back pain, neck pain, stiffness, numbness, headaches, arthritis, bursitis, hip pain, painful joints, shoulder pain, arm and leg pain and cold hands and feet.

Dr. Lipinski’s new office includes an X-ray room and equipment to process the X-ray quickly, a treatment room, consultation room and additional rooms for patient care.

Dr. Lipinski is a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Frederick County, Frederick Chapter of Business Network International, Maryland Chiropractic Association and Internal Chiropractors Association.

Dr. Lipinski said there are three types of chiropractic care.

The first is initial intensive-care to relieve a problem for a patient who waits until they are sick to come to the doctor and often discontinue care when they feel better.

The goal is to reduce the symptoms or disease without the high risk of drugs or surgery, allowing the body to heal itself and repair itself.

The second phase is reconstructive or health care, which focuses on prevention of problems through an ongoing correction of the spinal cord and nerve system.

The third phase of chiropractic care is wellness, which develops a lifestyle of optimum performance physically, spiritually, intellectually and emotionally.
